TCGplayer's Q3 2026 sales report puts Riftbound back at #5 among trading card games. Its new set, Vendetta, did not make the top five sets for the quarter.

Riftbound ranks #5 by gross merchandise value (GMV) in TCGplayer's Q3 2026 report. That is up from #6 in Q2, and it swaps places with Disney Lorcana, which drops to #6 . The ranking uses TCGplayer Marketplace sales from July 1 to September 30, 2026 (source: TCGplayer, 2026-10).

Quick Answer: TCGplayer's Q3 2026 report (sales from July 1 to September 30, 2026) ranks Riftbound #5 among trading card games by GMV, up from #6 in Q2. It traded places with Disney Lorcana. Riftbound's new set, Vendetta, is not among TCGplayer's top five sets for the quarter.

GMV is the dollar value of everything sold, with singles and sealed product counted together. These figures cover the TCGplayer Marketplace only. They do not measure sales across the whole TCG industry.

TCGplayer gives two reasons for Riftbound's quarter:

"Riftbound had an especially strong quarter with the release of Vendetta and a major update to its ban list," — TCGplayer, Q3 2026 sales report (source: TCGplayer Seller Blog)

The top of the table did not move. In TCGplayer's ranking:

  • #1 Magic: The Gathering, unchanged from Q2
  • #2 Pokémon, unchanged from Q2
  • #3 One Piece Card Game, in that spot for the fourth quarter in a row
  • #4 Yu-Gi-Oh!, unchanged from Q2

TCGplayer described this as "the top of the market remained stable." All of the movement came below the top four. For Pokémon and One Piece collectors, it means the two games kept their places while Riftbound moved up beneath them.

What is the full TCGplayer top 10 for Q3 2026?

The TCGplayer top 10 for Q3 2026 ranks games by gross merchandise value (GMV), which is the dollar value of singles and sealed product sold on TCGplayer Marketplace from July 1 to September 30, 2026. The order is Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece Card Game, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Riftbound, Disney Lorcana, Gundam Card Game, Pokémon Japan, Union Arena and Dragon Ball Super Fusion World .

The table below shows each game's Q3 rank next to its previous-quarter rank. The data comes from the TCGplayer Q3 2026 best-sellers report.

9Union Arena11Up 2 (new to top 10)

TCGplayer's own commentary points to three moves below the top four :

  • Riftbound and Disney Lorcana swapped places. In TCGplayer's words, "Riftbound traded places with Disney Lorcana." Riftbound went from #6 to #5, and Lorcana went from #5 to #6.
  • Gundam and Pokémon Japan swapped places. Gundam Card Game went from #8 to #7, and Pokémon Japan went from #7 to #8.
  • Union Arena entered the top 10. TCGplayer says the game was "jumping into the Top 10 off the back of a strong August after the release of Chainsaw Man." It went from #11 to #9.

Union Arena's entry pushed Dragon Ball Super Fusion World down one place, from #9 to #10. It stayed in the top 10. TCGplayer's commentary does not explain this drop, and this report does not suggest a cause.

Pokémon readers may want to note that TCGplayer tracks Pokémon and Pokémon Japan as separate product lines. In Q3, the English-language line held #2 and the Japanese line slipped to #8 . Each line is ranked on its own GMV, so the two are never added together.

These rankings cover only TCGplayer Marketplace sales. They do not measure market share for the whole trading card industry, and they do not show how many people play each game.

Why did Vendetta miss the top 5 sets?

TCGplayer gives no reason why Vendetta is missing from its top five sets for Q3 2026. Riftbound moved up to #5 among games, but none of the five best-selling sets by gross merchandise value (GMV) was a Riftbound set, according to TCGplayer's Q3 2026 report . In TCGplayer's set ranking, Riftbound's climb does not appear as a win for one set.

The five sets with the highest GMV on TCGplayer Marketplace between July 1 and September 30, 2026 were :

RankSetGame
130th CelebrationPokémon
2The HobbitMagic: The Gathering
3Pitch BlackPokémon
4The World's Strongest WarriorsOne Piece Card Game
5Freedom AscensionGundam Card Game

TCGplayer says Riftbound had "an especially strong quarter with the release of Vendetta and a major update to its ban list" . The report does not give Vendetta's set rank. It also does not say how much of Riftbound's GMV came from Vendetta, from older sets or from singles.

Riftbound's earlier sets did reach this list:

  • Q4 2025: Origins, Riftbound's first set, ranked #3 among sets. MTG's Avatar: The Last Airbender was #1 (TCGplayer, Q4 2025) .
  • Q1 2026: Spiritforged ranked #5 among sets. Pokémon's Ascended Heroes was #1 (TCGplayer, Q1 2026) .
  • Q3 2026: No Riftbound set is in the top five .

TCGplayer does not explain why Riftbound ranked higher as a game than any of its sets did this quarter. Any reason given elsewhere is speculation, not part of the report.

TCGplayer did comment on the top of the set list. It wrote that "30th Celebration managed to barely out-sell The Hobbit in Q3, despite not releasing until mid-September" . That means the Pokémon set reached #1 with about two weeks of sales inside the quarter. TCGplayer did not publish GMV figures for either set, so the size of the gap is unknown.

How has Riftbound ranked quarter by quarter since its debut?

Riftbound has been #5 or #6 among games in every TCGplayer quarterly report since it launched. It was #5 in Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, slipped to #6 in Q2 2026, and returned to #5 in Q3 2026. These rankings come from TCGplayer Marketplace sales by gross merchandise value (GMV) and cover only that one marketplace .

Here is the quarter-by-quarter record, built from TCGplayer's seller-blog reports:

  • Q4 2025 (Oct 1–Dec 15, 2025): #5. TCGplayer wrote that "Riftbound enjoyed a tremendously successful debut," and its first set, Origins, ranked #3 among sets that quarter (source: TCGplayer Q4 2025 report) .
  • Q1 2026 (Jan 1–Mar 31, 2026): #5, with Spiritforged ranked #5 among sets (source: TCGplayer Q1 2026 report) .
  • Q2 2026: #6. This comes from the previous-rank column in the Q3 table, not from a separate Q2 report reviewed for this article .
  • Q3 2026 (Jul 1–Sep 30, 2026): #5. Riftbound swapped places with Disney Lorcana (source: TCGplayer Q3 2026 report) .

The four places above Riftbound have not changed. Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece Card Game and Yu-Gi-Oh! held #1 to #4, in that order, in every report reviewed here . In Q3, TCGplayer noted that One Piece kept #3 "for the fourth quarter in a row."

Because of that, Riftbound's movement is limited to the band below the top four. In that band, Disney Lorcana, Pokémon Japan and Gundam Card Game have moved up and down from quarter to quarter .

The periods are not all the same length. The Q4 2025 report covered October 1 to December 15, about two weeks short of a full calendar quarter . TCGplayer also publishes only ranks, not GMV totals. So the reports show where Riftbound placed relative to other games, but not how much its sales grew or fell from one quarter to the next.

Which singles sold the most on TCGplayer in Q3 2026?

According to TCGplayer's Q3 2026 report, the best-selling single by gross merchandise value (GMV) was Black Chaos from Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Chaos Origins set, listed at $53.69 . Pokémon's Mega Darkrai ex 116/084 from Pitch Black was #2, at $147.98 .

GMV is the total dollar value of a card's sales on the marketplace. A low-priced card can still rank high if many copies sell. All prices below are TCGplayer snapshots taken on October 9, 2026 .

Source: TCGplayer, Best-Selling Trading Card Games Q3 2026 .

The list shows a few patterns:

  • Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Chaos Origins has two cards in the top three: Black Chaos at #1 and Pot of Sloth at #3, listed at $60.37 .
  • Pokémon has five of the ten cards. The two highest-priced cards on the list are Pikachu ex 276/217 at #6 ($821.26) and Mega Charizard X ex 125/094 at #7 ($661.14) .
  • Magic: The Gathering has three cards. The Mind Stone is at #4 ($41.16), and two cards from The Hobbit products are at #9 and #10 .
  • Riftbound has no card in the top 10 singles. One Piece Card Game doesn't have one either.

The prices are snapshots from one marketplace on a single day. They will change and should not be read as a valuation. TCGplayer ranks these singles by GMV, so the list does not show how many copies of each card sold .

Which cards attracted the most unique buyers?

When TCGplayer counts unique buyers instead of dollar sales, low-priced Pokémon cards lead its Q3 2026 list. According to TCGplayer, Poke Pad 081/088 from Perfect Order, priced at $0.28, is #1 . Almost every card in this ranking is a Pokémon card.

These are the top three by unique buyers. Prices are TCGplayer snapshots from October 9, 2026 :

  • #1 Poke Pad 081/088 (Pokémon, Perfect Order): $0.28
  • #2 Meowth ex 062/088 (Pokémon, Perfect Order): $1.90
  • #3 Night Stretcher (Pokémon, Ascended Heroes): $0.24

Only one card on the list isn't from Pokémon. That's Wizard's Staff, a Magic: The Gathering card from The Hobbit, at #8 and $4.11 . TCGplayer doesn't list any Riftbound, One Piece Card Game or Yu-Gi-Oh! card in this ranking.

This list and the GMV singles list measure different things. GMV adds up the dollar value of sales, so a $821.26 Pikachu ex 276/217 can rank high even if fewer people buy it . The unique-buyer count shows how many separate customers bought a card, whatever it cost. Cards that sell for under a dollar can lead this list without adding much to GMV.

TCGplayer doesn't publish the buyer counts behind the ranking. Its report also doesn't say why these cards drew so many buyers . Both rankings cover only TCGplayer Marketplace sales from July 1 to September 30, 2026. They aren't a measure of the whole TCG market.

Why do other reports show Riftbound weaker or Pitch Black stronger?

Other reports seem to disagree with TCGplayer because they measure different things. TCGplayer ranks games by sales value on its own marketplace. TCGIndex tracks secondary-market price indexes, and ASInsight estimates Amazon US unit sales. None of their figures can be compared directly with TCGplayer GMV .

TCGIndex: Riftbound's weak price week

The TCGIndex market report dated October 15, 2026 says "9 of 14 tracked TCG markets are up on the week." Riftbound was the weakest of the 14 at -2.4% over the 7-day window. Dragon Ball Super led at +2.3% .

This doesn't contradict Riftbound's #5 place on TCGplayer. TCGIndex follows how card prices moved over one week in October. TCGplayer counts how much was sold between July 1 and September 30, 2026. A game can have high sales over a quarter and still see prices fall in a later week.

ASInsight: Pitch Black on Amazon US

The ASInsight August 2026 report ranks products in Amazon US's "trading card game" search category by estimated units sold. Its #1 product is the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Booster Bundle, at about 40,000 units a month and $42.91 .

The Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box is #5 on the same list, at about 20,000 units a month and $69.95. ASInsight also says the $20–$50 price band makes up 41% of the assortment . These numbers fit with Pitch Black's #3 set placement on TCGplayer, but only loosely.

Why the figures can't be compared

  • TCGplayer: dollar sales value (GMV) of singles and sealed product on one US marketplace, by quarter.
  • TCGIndex: secondary-market price change over 7 days. It doesn't measure sales.
  • ASInsight: estimated monthly units for Amazon US listings. This is a separate retail channel with its own method.

Each source covers one channel and one time window. None of them, alone or combined, measures the whole TCG market.

What to watch in the Q4 2026 TCGplayer report

The next TCGplayer report will answer three questions: whether Riftbound keeps #5, whether Union Arena stays in the top 10, and whether the top four keep the same order. In Q3 2026, Riftbound ranked #5 and Disney Lorcana #6, after they swapped places from Q2 .

  • Riftbound vs. Lorcana at #5: According to TCGplayer, Riftbound has ranked #5 in three of its four reports since launch, with #6 in Q2 2026 as the exception . TCGplayer linked its Q3 result to the release of Vendetta and a ban list update.
  • Union Arena at #9: Union Arena moved up from #11. TCGplayer credited a strong August after the release of Chainsaw Man . Q4 will show whether it stays in the top 10 without that one month.
  • The top four: Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh! held places one to four in that order in the Q4 2025, Q1 2026 and Q3 2026 reports . TCGplayer said One Piece has now held #3 for four quarters in a row.

Be careful when comparing reports. The Q4 2025 report covered October 1 to December 15, 2025, not a full quarter . Check which dates the next report covers before you compare it with Q3. The single-card prices quoted here are TCGplayer snapshots from October 9, 2026, and they will change.

The rankings show what sold on one marketplace in one window. They do not forecast what will happen next, and none of this is investment advice. The order in Q3 2026 was Riftbound #5, Lorcana #6 and Union Arena #9. Use that order as the baseline when TCGplayer publishes its Q4 2026 report.
