When is the ST-38 release date?
The ST-38 release date is December 18, 2026. The official ONE PIECE CARD GAME product page gives this date for STARTER DECK -Baroque Works- [ST-38] (source: ONE PIECE CARD GAME Official Web Site, 2026-10). The UK distributor listing from Asmodee UK gives the same date, 18/12/2026, under product code BCL2873818 . Plan around December 18, 2026, and check with your local store, because retailers can set their own street dates.
One official page shows a different date. On October 20, 2026, the official products list filtered to decks showed ST-38 with "Release Date December 19, 2026" . The product detail page and the Asmodee UK listing both say December 18, so this article uses the product-page date. Here is what each source showed on October 20, 2026:
- Official ST-38 product page: December 18, 2026
- Asmodee UK distributor listing: 18/12/2026
- Official products list (decks filter): December 19, 2026
ST-38 has a companion deck. STARTER DECK -The Desert Princess and the Pirates- [ST-37] is listed on the same official deck list with a release date of December 18, 2026 . That makes ST-37 and ST-38 the two starter decks scheduled for December 2026. Earlier 2026 starter decks on the same list came out on different dates: ST-29 on January 16, 2026, ST-30 on June 12, 2026, and ST-31 through ST-36 on July 31, 2026 .
What is in the ST-38 starter deck box?
The ST-38 starter deck box contains four items: one Constructed Deck of 51 cards, 10 DON!! cards, one Bonus Pack of 3 cards and one Playsheet. The official ONE PIECE CARD GAME product page lists the contents as "Constructed Deck x 1 (51 cards), DON!! Cards x 10, Bonus Pack x 1 (3 cards), Playsheet x 1" (source: ONE PIECE CARD GAME Official Web Site, 2026-10) . The 51-card deck holds the Leader plus a 50-card main deck. The DON!! cards and the Playsheet are the other components needed to start playing.
| Item | Quantity | Detail (official wording) |
|---|---|---|
| Constructed Deck | 1 | 51 cards |
| DON!! Cards | 10 | DON!! Cards x 10 |
| Bonus Pack | 1 | 3 cards |
| Playsheet | 1 | Playsheet x 1 |
The official page gives a separate card composition: "Leader Card x 1, Super Rare x 2, Common x 14" . This line counts the unique cards and their rarities, not the physical cards. That is why the figures add up to 17 rather than 51. Several of the unique cards appear in more than one copy in the constructed deck. Based on this list, ST-38 has one Leader, two Super Rare cards and fourteen Common cards as distinct card designs.
- Leader Card: 1 unique card
- Super Rare: 2 unique cards
- Common: 14 unique cards
The official site describes the product as a "Blue/Black deck that cycles through your hand and KOs your opponents' characters" . The colors and the hand-cycling and KO theme are confirmed. The full decklist is not. The official sources read for this article did not publish card-by-card copy counts or the names of the two Super Rare and fourteen Common cards, so this article does not list them. The product page also does not say which 3 cards come in the Bonus Pack or whether that pack is fixed or random. Collectors who track individual card values should check the official card list once Bandai publishes the ST-38 entries.
Who is the ST-38 Leader, Crocodile ST38-001?
The ST-38 Leader is Mr. 0 (Crocodile), card number ST38-001. According to the third-party card database OPlayTCG, it has 5000 power, 4 Life and the Special attribute . Its listed types are Baroque Works and The Seven Warlords of the Sea . Bandai's official product page did not show the Leader's card text when this article was researched. For that reason, every card detail in this section comes from OPlayTCG and is secondary to official Bandai information.
OPlayTCG lists two effects for Mr. 0 (Crocodile) ST38-001 :
- [When Attacking]: You may trash 1 card from your hand. If you do, draw 1 card.
- [Activate: Main] [Once Per Turn]: You may K.O. 1 of your own Characters that has a type including "Baroque Works" and a base cost of 3 or more. If you do, draw 1 card.
The two effects do different jobs. The attack effect lets a player swap an unwanted card in hand for a new draw. The Main-phase effect turns one of the player's own Baroque Works Characters into a card draw, but only a Character with a base cost of 3 or more. Each of these is a choice, because the text says "you may" in both effects.
The OPlayTCG text matches how Bandai describes the deck. The official product page calls ST-38 a:
"Blue/Black deck that cycles through your hand and KOs your opponents' characters," — product description, ONE PIECE CARD GAME Official Web Site (source: Bandai, ST-38 product page)
The Leader's discard-and-draw effect matches the "cycles through your hand" part of Bandai's description. Bandai's phrase about KOing "your opponents' characters" refers to the deck as a whole, not to the Leader. The Leader's own K.O. effect targets the player's own Characters. Neither the official page nor OPlayTCG says which other cards in the deck K.O. the opponent's Characters, because the full decklist had not been officially published in the sources read.
The OPlayTCG entry gives no price for ST38-001, and no official source read for this article gives the Leader's rarity treatment or any alternate-art versions. Players should check the card text against the official card list once Bandai adds the ST-38 entries, because wording on a third-party database can change before or after release.
Is the ST-38 deck tournament legal and from when?
Yes. The cards in STARTER DECK -Baroque Works- [ST-38] become tournament legal 7 days after the release date. The official product page says "Cards included in this product will be tournament legal starting 7 days after the release date." The same page lists the release date as December 18, 2026 . Before the general legal date, the deck can also be played at local game store events, which the official site covers with a separate rule.
The ONE PIECE CARD GAME Official Web Site sets out two windows:
- General tournament play: legal "starting 7 days after the release date" .
- Local game store (LGS) play: the cards "are legal from the pre-release date in your LGS" .
The product page does not give a calendar date for the end of the 7-day window, and it does not give a pre-release date for ST-38. Players should count from the release date that applies to their own region. The official deck list on the same site showed December 19, 2026 for ST-38 when this research was done , one day later than the product page, so the legal date may differ by a day depending on which listing applies.
For a specific event, check with the organizer or your LGS. The store sets its pre-release schedule, and the organizer decides whether ST-38 cards are allowed in the event's format before the general legal date.
Where can you pre-order ST-38 and what do other editions cost?
You can pre-order the English edition of STARTER DECK -Baroque Works- [ST-38] from retailers such as Wayland Games in the UK . In the UK, distributor Asmodee UK lists an RRP of £16.99 under product code BCL2873818 . That compares with the official US MSRP of USD $16.99 .
A Japanese edition is a separate product. Some Asian shops, including Daimonji TCG, take pre-orders for a Japanese-language release titled "Start Deck Baroque Works [ST-38]" . Check the language on a listing before you buy, because the English and Japanese editions are different products. The sources used here give no confirmed price for the Japanese edition.
ST-38 is the latest in a run of 2026 starter decks. Release dates from the official deck list :
- ST-29: January 16, 2026
- ST-30: June 12, 2026
- ST-31 through ST-36: July 31, 2026
- ST-37 (STARTER DECK -The Desert Princess and the Pirates-): December 18, 2026
- ST-38 (STARTER DECK -Baroque Works-): December 18, 2026 on the product page
ST-37 and ST-38 are listed for the same day. A store may sell both decks at once, but each one has its own product listing and code.
What was speculated before the official reveal?
Before Bandai published the product page, CardGameBase correctly guessed that Crocodile would be the ST-38 Leader. It got the deck colors and the reveal timing wrong. In a preview dated September 10, 2026, the outlet reasoned that "BW" stood for Baroque Works, the group Crocodile leads in the story (source: CardGameBase, 2026-09).
Here is how the September guesses compare with the official information:
- Leader: CardGameBase guessed Crocodile. This was correct. The Leader is Mr. 0 (Crocodile), ST38-001 .
- Colors: CardGameBase guessed black-purple. This was wrong. The official product page describes a "Blue/Black deck that cycles through your hand and KOs your opponents' characters" .
- Decklist timing: CardGameBase expected the decklist around late October 2026 . As of October 20, 2026, the official pages read for this article did not show a full ST-38 decklist.
CardGameBase also called ST-37 the more beginner-friendly of the two December decks and ST-38 the more complex and strategic one. It linked both decks by theme to the OP-18 booster (source: CardGameBase, 2026-09). These are the outlet's editorial opinions, not Bandai information. The official product page does not rank the two decks by difficulty and does not mention a link to OP-18.
